Meet your doula, Sharon Jensen-Cody, PhD
Hello there! My name is Sharon, and I'm thrilled to connect with you here. In my world, I share my life with my wonderful husband and our two amazing kids who fill our days with joy and surprises.
My journey into the world of birth-work stems from a deep-rooted passion for expectant parents that took hold of me at a young age when I witnessed my sister giving birth. The duality of the experience, both challenging and profoundly beautiful, left an indelible mark on me.
With a PhD in Molecular Medicine, I made the decision to step away from the laboratory to pursue my calling in supporting expectant parents as they navigate the transformative journey of pregnancy, birth, & postpartum. Eager to transition into the role of a Birth Doula, I've always been captivated by the marvels of pregnancy & the ability of the female body to nurture new life.
My mission as a DONA trained Birth Doula is rooted in empowering women to shape their birth experiences according to their desires. I am dedicated to championing maternal-fetal health & providing unwavering support to new parents as they embark on one of life's most incredible journeys. I am here to walk alongside you, offering mental, emotional, and physical guidance to make your birth journey a truly empowering and memorable one.
Additionally, as a certified Pediatric Sleep Consultant, I am deeply dedicated to supporting parents in navigating the intricacies of their children's sleep patterns and behaviors. My passion lies in assisting families with any challenges their little ones may be encountering in relation to sleep, to provide rejuvenating rest you need and deserve.
I look forward to the privilege of being a part of your birth story and helping you navigate this extraordinary time in your life.

Where to begin... to say that Sharon was an incredible doula doesn't even cover it. She made me feel informed and supported and was super organized from the very beginning of our interactions. Aside from providing thorough information for making me feel prepared as a first time mom, covering all the topics you can think of, she was the most amazing labor and delivery support for myself and my husband. I would not have been able to do what I did without her. I have a husband who was in the trenches with us the entire time, so he of course did a lot of the heavy lifting through labor, and Sharon was his counterpart in the most amazing way. Anything he wasn't really covering whether it was pressure on my back or verbal cues, or mantras, or position adjustment to further help me along she was right there guiding him and myself through everything. I had the most incredible birth experience thanks to her support. I chose to go sans epidural or any pain meds and it made a difference for me to feel that we had a whole team. I'm so grateful for her support leading up to birth and through the hardest thing I've ever had to do. Thank you, you are a special woman. I forgot to mention she was 26 weeks pregnant with her second while in the delivery room with us. WILD. Just a super woman. Thank you.

Sharon is absolutely amazing. I was late in my pregnancy when I decided I wanted to have a birth doula, 37wks and feeling like I needed more support as I prepared for a natural water birth. The level of care that she provided in such a short time exceeded my expectations in every way and I have no idea how I would have gotten my baby here without her! Her calming presence made me feel at ease, and her knowledge of every stage of birth and labor is very evident in the way she educated and supported me through the experience.
She helped me into various positions to ease contractions and move my baby down, was encouraging and didn’t match my moments of fear or doubt, and offered helpful breathing techniques and physical tools to alleviate pain like a birthing ball, tens machine, back roller, comb, and her own two hands! I had a challenging labor that lasted three days, and I think if not for Sharon‘s support I might have given up on my plan to deliver naturally and ended up in the hospital. But I safely delivered my sweet boy the way I planned - unmedicated and in a birthing pool, surrounded by the people that helped me through it. She captured these moments for me on my phone as well! Thank you for everything Sharon - we love you!

I recently had the privilege of working with Sharon during my pregnancy, and I couldn’t be more grateful for her exceptional care and support. As a high-risk patient, I was seeking a doula service that could tailor their care to my specific needs, and Sharon exceeded my expectations. From the moment I reached out to her, her attentiveness was evident. She took the time to listen to my concerns and answered all my questions with patience and clarity, easing the anxiety of being a first-time mom.
What truly set her apart was her extensive knowledge, backed by a scientific background, yet she effortlessly translated complex concepts into understandable terms, making me feel empowered and informed throughout my journey. Sharon went out of her way to make me feel supported, informed, and empowered every step of the way. I highly recommend Sharon to any expecting parent, especially those with unique or high-risk pregnancies.

My husband and I hired Sharon as our doula with the intention of having as close to a non-medicated birth as possible. We were flexible with our birth plan but preferred to have minimal interventions. Sharon was very thoughtful in helping us plan and prepare for the birth of our newborn. We met a few times before the birth and frequently texted regarding updates from prenatal appointments and occasional questions I had about symptoms. Sharon always responded quickly and with very helpful information. My doctor scheduled me for an induction at 39 weeks pregnant. I was hesitant about the induction, but ultimately went forward with it. Sharon was extremely attentive with every decision that was made and made sure to confirm with me that I was comfortable with the interventions my doctor proposed. After starting Pitocin, I was able to work through contractions with no epidural until I was 6 cm dilated. Sharon assisted by helping me get into various positions including on a medicine ball and peanut ball. She was extremely hands on the entire time, applying counter pressure and support while I worked through each contraction. Once it was time to push, Sharon continued to assist me in positions that helped baby descend into the pelvis. Sharon helped me stay motivated throughout the entire labor. I was able to have the vaginal delivery I wanted and am blessed to have a healthy and very happy little boy. I cannot thank Sharon enough for her support and will definitely be using her for my second birth.
